What is DDS (Drug Delivery System)?
DDS (Drug Delivery System) is a technology that delivers drugs to where they are needed, when they are needed, and in the amount needed. This technology makes it possible to reduce the amount of drug and the number of times it is administered. In other words, while increasing the efficacy of the drug, it also reduces side effects, thereby decreasing the burden on the patient.

We are a pioneer in DDS research and have successfully developed many new DDS drugs.
World’s first lecithinization to improve biopharmaceuticals
While PEGylation technology is well known as a DDS technology for protein drugs, we are the only company that has a technology for improving kinetics of protein drugs through lecithinization. (We are currently conducting clinical trials of PC-SOD using this technology.) This technology can be applied to other protein drugs.
Development of the world’s first DDS carrier that combines targeting and sustained release
While previous DDS carriers have aimed either targeting or sustained release, our stealth-type nanoparticles are the world’s first DDS carrier to achieve both simultaneously. We are currently developing nano PGE1 and nano BPS (beraprost sodium), but other drugs and nucleic acids can also be encapsulated.
Lipid emulsion DDS technology which enable us to launch multiple new drugs
By encapsulating drugs in lipid emulsions , it is possible to improve drug kinetics. We are a pioneer in this technology and have already successfully launched lipo-PGE1 (Lipule, Palux, Kaishi) and lipo-NSAID (Ropion, Kaifen). Our partner, Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.Beijing Taide Pharmaceuticals, has one of the world’s largest manufacturing plants for lipid emulsions.
Advantages of DDS New Drugs in the Development Stage
Development time for DDS formulations can be shortened compared to general new drug development
When targeting a drug that is already on the market, some of the testing required for general new drug development can be omitted. Therefore, as with DR, which will be explained separately, the advantage of DDS new drugs is that safe drugs can be developed quickly, cheaply, and reliably.
