Shonan Health Innovation Park (Shonan iPark)
Both of our core technologies, Drug Delivery System (DDS) and Drug Repositioning (DR), are characterized by their ability to more reliably lead to successful drug development at less cost than conventional drug discovery. As a result, Takeda has not only successfully launched several drugs, but also has 14 drugs currently under development, some of which are in clinical trials. We have established the Shonan Research Center at the Shonan Health Innovation Park (Shonan iEye Park), which is based on Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited. We also conduct joint research with many universities and companies. Specifically, we provide our proprietary library of approved drugs free of charge, and together with them we search for new indications for approved drugs while leveraging our DR know-how, and improve the kinetics of drugs developed by other companies by encapsulating them in our DDS carriers.

Drug discovery in collaboration with Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Beijing Taide Pharmaceuticals is another unique feature of our company. To date, we have licensed out our pipeline to the company. Our model for joint development is that we are mainly responsible for drug discovery and intellectual property, while Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical is in charge of establishing manufacturing methods, and we work together on clinical trials while taking advantage of the characteristics of both countries. We have neither a factory nor a sales department. Therefore, we outsource manufacturing and sales to external organizations and aim to license out the drug at the earliest possible stage. Our business model is to develop innovative drugs efficiently with fewer personnel and costs by collaborating with many people in this way.
